Active Therapies - Our Journey

Active Therapies: Our journey

Lucy Forbes and Andrew Forbes began their careers very differently. Lucy spent much of her early career working in large hospitals, always with a focus on musculoskeletal patients, but with the background of an outpatient clinic rather than a private practice. Andrew began as a locum osteopath in small private clinics on the Kent weald. Even once they arrived in the Southern Highlands, Lucy began by working at the Southern Highlands Private Hospital, and Andrew set up his own small clinic at the northern entrance to Bowral.

Active Therapies started as a partnership – literally – Lucy and Andrew working together for the first time as a married couple. Some people might see that as a recipe for a total train wreck, but it has worked and stood the test of time.

They opened the clinic in 70 Bowral Street in late 2000, and for the first few years it was just the two of them. Gradually, as the clinic expanded, they took on more practitioners, until the clinic reached its current size, with six practitioners: Lucy, Andrew, Tanya, Maria, Rachel, and Kara our hand therapist along with three admin staff, Mandy, Kim and Jenny.

We have gradually expanded our range of services, as different practitioners joined the practice and brought their particular skills and preferences to their roles.

Today we offer a broad range of services, which include:

  • Physiotherapy
  • Osteopathy
  • Women’s and Men’s Health
  • Sports Injuries
  • Dizzyness and Concussion
  • Pilates
  • Workplace Assessments
  • Brace Assessments and Fittings.

Our journey is continuing to evolve and we look forward to helping all our patients meet and overcome their health challenges.

We are caring of our patients, passionate about what we do, and active in our community.
